World of Nerds: Harry Potter. Books? Or Films?
I have never met a person who has not read, seen or at least heard of the Harry Potter franchise. The series was written by Joanne. K. Rowling in a coffee shop in Edinburgh. She said that "Harry walked into my head fully formed while I took the train into Kings Cross in London." Lets see which out of the two were better.

The very first Harry Potter book, was released to the British public in 1997. Rowling had been working on it for a year and her plans and original drawings are now being shown in the British Library in London. The stories follow Harry, a wizard who is sent to his school at age eleven. There he meets his two friends Ron and Hermione and they end up fighting against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named (Moldywart). The books add in a lot more detail than the films. for example they left out Moldywart's entire family history with the Gaunt Family. Oh no it's fine, it's not like anyone who has read the books multiple times will notice. Films
Also, is it just me or does Harry Potter in the movies seem to be a bit more of a Gary Stu than in the books? Or is it just me? Also who else here loves Snape as a character? I personally think he's one of the most complex characters in the series. But that's just me, why don't you leave a comment of who your favourite character is.
Books vs Films
So, here comes the facts. Most of the people who read Harry Potter would agree that the books are the best as they are the originals, the Films were made to bring the Wizarding world to life. Others did not read the books and watched the films first so they would obviously say the films are the best. The most distinct things that were not included/changed in the movies were:
- Dumbledore was way more aggressive to Harry in the GOF
- Pettigrew's silver hand had some use in the book not in the film
- Ghosts were used more in the books
- Harry's eyes were not green they were blue
- We didn't get to see Neville's parents which was annoying
- We didn't get any closure to what happened to Lockhart or Umbridge
- Neville was portrayed as a hot guy in the film (Positive change)
- S.P.E.W was not in the films at all (Hermione just ran after boys)
- The prophecy in the film did not mention that Neville could also be the "Chosen one."
- Ginny was way more independent in the books
