World of Nerds: Video Games

World of Nerds: Video games

OK, so every nerd knows about one type of console or the other, and the same could be said for games. But, do you know the history of the game/console that you own? Say for example, where it was made, who made it, who paid for it and who developed it? Alright then, lets start with a well known console. I'll be talking about three; Nintendo, PS4 and a PC.

Nintendo

Alright, so, everyone under the sun knows about this company. they created consoles like the DS the Wii and made games such as Mario Cart and Legend of Zelda among many others. But, do you know when it was made? The company itself was founded in 1889 by a man called Fusajiro Yamauchi. It was originally a company that was created to make and sell hanafuda playing cards. Nintendo's first world wide success came in the form of Game & Watch, a handheld device made in 1980. They then moved on to their other devices. The Nintendo DS and the Wii first made an appearance in 2004 which then became Nintendo's forth man held system. Yeah I know I missed around 24 years but I don't really want to bore you with a history lesson. New Super Mario Bros was released with the new Nintendo DS Lite in early 2006.
In the later half of 2006 Nintendo released the Wii console which would then evolve to the WiiU and other consoles. The Wii came to become the bestselling home console in the seventh generation. And, with the release of the Nintendo switch last year, Nintendo are still going strong, and will be for the next few years I bet.

PlayStation

OK, next company and console is the PlayStation. PlayStation is developed and made
by Sony Computer Entertainment. The original console was released in late 1994. It was made due to the contract between Nintendo and Sony and it's most recent console was released in 2013 being named the PlayStation 4. Most of the games made for PS4 are well known and you might've seen YouTubers play multiple of them. An example of one would be Markiplier playing Until Dawn, which I would recommend to anyone who has a PS4 to play it.

PC

A PC game is a game that is played on your laptop at home. You can download the content using many apps and websites. But, I'd recommend using Steam as it has the best prices. So,  what is a PC game? That's an easy question. A PC game is one that can be easily played and downloaded onto your laptop. It can be any game like say; Five Nights at Freddy's, or Call of Duty or, the worlds grossing PC game yet, League of Legends. These games can range from anything, from horror to slice of life, the only limit is your debit card amount.

Games; Five Night's at Freddy's

Alright, to finish up this post, I'm going to talk about one of my all time favourite games to play. Five Night's at Freddy's first made its appearance in August 2014. It was developed by a man called Scot Cawthon and has since had six other games after it, most of these were sequels. It is a horror game that puts you, the player in the shoes of a nigh guard at a pizzeria named Freddy Fazbear's pizza. You must survive till 6 am without having the power die or the animatronics kill you. You don't move through out the game but only look around to shut the doors and turn on lights and work the cameras to check on the animatronics; Bonnie, Chica, Freddy and Foxy. It is a really immersive game and I'd recommend playing it with a friend, or in a room with your pet with the lights on.
